No matter how hard we try, the question of faith is a defining choice in this world.

We put our trust in all kinds of things. Gravity. Money. Other people. Our alarm clock. Food. We live in a world where we cannot avoid having to operate by faith. There are forces both within and outside ourselves fighting for our trust. Our belief. Our faith.

We have no choice but to trust. But we do get to choose the foundation for our trusting. Will it be our senses? Confidence in self? Or will it be the truth God tells us, truth that is true yet not visible to our earthly senses? That choice has immense consequences.

It is impossible to please God without living by faith in Him. God desires us to not only believe He exists but that He will make trusting him worthwhile. He rewards those who earnestly seek Him, by faith. It pleases God for us to see, the rewards promised by the many voices competing for our trust pale in comparison to the benefits God promises.

God granted us the unique opportunity to believe Him. When we choose to place our trust in His promises, He is greatly pleased. In part because we were also created to share His bounty. The rewards and benefits God offers those who walk by faith are nothing less than the riches of His Kingdom.

There is a direct link between living by faith in God’s promises and having our deepest longings satisfied.

Today is a day of choices and who or what we will trust is a foundation for all else.

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
