We serve as the referee in our own lives. The arbiter between flesh and spirit, wisdom and foolishness. Our ability to choose is powerful. It is the way we commit to our faith and the way we exercise it. Decision-making determines where we will go and how we will perceive. It is the most important thing about being human.

Scripture is clear: we are not left to our own devices when it comes to decision-making. The challenges, obstacles, and options can be overwhelming.

The key to good decision making is listening to God. Reaching out in faithful obedience to interact with the Lord of the universe. Hear what He was to say and use it as the guidepost by which to make choices.

James says all we need to attain wisdom is a willing and inquisitive heart. It also says we will not be given wisdom if we ask with wrong motives – to spend what we get on our own fleshly desires.

But if we truly trust that God is the source of wisdom and approach Him with humble and eager ears, He will grant us wisdom. He will guide our decision-making. He will help us find a way.

There are thousands of choices in front of you today. What will you choose? How will you determine your choices?

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” – James 1:51
