As we search for success, blessing, and approval in this life, we are focused on method and means. We are looking for the right thing to come along, the secret recipe, the magic bullet. One of the reasons people are so frustrated is because they cannot find the right means to achieve the things they long for.

The real struggle is not that we cannot find the means for success, but that we have not rightly defined success.

Jesus is not a means to our treasure. He is our treasure. He does not provide the way for us to receive daily bread, the substance that sustains us. He is that very thing himself.

The implications of this revelation are enormous. Relationship with Jesus is the blessing we are looking for. It is both the means and the subject of achieving our deepest desires. Our highest treasure is him. We do not need Jesus to provide the circumstances that will sustain and fulfill us. We need Jesus to sustain and fulfill us.

The Treasure of Heaven is available to you today. No matter what difficulties you are facing, what gifts you have, and what challenges you’ll encounter today, it is all an opportunity to perceive the true source of your daily bread. The provider who gives nothing greater than Himself.

“Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.’”
– John 6:35
