Everything we encounter is a by-product of the work of the Sovereign Lord. The earth, the heavens. Angels, animals, and mankind. It is all a reflection of The One True God.

Throughout Scripture, there are stories of angels appearing to mankind to help us along our way. We often revere angels and look at them in awe. As we should, they are majestic creatures designed by The God of The Universe.

So are you.

Angels play an incredible and awe-inspiring part in the narrative of God. And so do human beings. We have the unique opportunity to trust God through faith, something even the angels can’t do. Alongside all other things created by God, humans and angels reflect something about who God is; they are different manifestations of The Truth – evidence of the great and glorious King.

Imagine two celebrities who are in different fields (say an actor and an athlete). Both have admired one another from afar. Both think the other is amazing at what they do.

This is our relationship with the angels. To be awed, for sure. Just about every Biblical character that encounters an angel is floored. It makes one wonder what the experience is like for the angel. Are they nervous to appear before man and help him on his way? Are they excited to be a part of what God is doing? Are they awed by the faith of the fallible humans they come in contact with?

Just like the angels, we were created uniquely to reflect the glory of God. We do not create God’s Glory, we simply bear witness to it. Our superpower is faith, the ability to make choices to trust God even when we cannot see, feel, or understand. A pretty astonishing feat. Yet another reason to bow down before the Creator of all things.

“You alone are the Lord. You have made the heavens, The heaven of heavens with all their host, The earth and all that is on it, The seas and all that is in them. You give life to all of them And the heavenly host bows down before You.”
– Nehemiah 9:6
