Solomon reigned as Israel’s king during the golden era of peace. On the heels of his father, David, he stepped into an early ministry of wisdom and prosperity.

How did he do this? He asked God. The Lord appeared to him and made him an offer – “anything you ask”. Solomon did not ask for wealth or power. He sought something far more valuable – wisdom.

The Lord longs to bless us with the heights and depths of His Kingdom. He longs to give us true riches, all the gold we want. “Buy gold from Me” Jesus admonishes. How do we buy all the gold we want? By listening to God and taking His words as ours. That is the essence of wisdom, to see things from God’s perspective. When we listen to God, we gain the opportunity to see truly.

Wisdom is more precious than rubies, much more valuable than silver. And the Lord promises it to us! If only we ask. If only we listen!

These words are not unique to Solomon and his station. They are available to all of us as sons and daughters of God, as benefactors to His inheritance. There has never been anyone like you and there never will be.

We will receive the wisdom we ask from God. We will receive the riches of His Kingdom when we respond to His invitation to hear His voice and dine with Him.

All we have to do is listen.

“I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be.”
