Solomon has an unbelievable opportunity laid before him. The God of the universe has granted him one request. No limits or conditions.

The discerning son of David decides what he wants most in the world is a true perspective. He asks for wisdom and discernment so that he might better assess right and wrong, truth and lie, good and bad.

There is no greater treasure in the kingdom of God than wisdom. No greater reward. Nothing more useful or beneficial to the disciple.

God grants Solomon wisdom and continues to place his favor on the king.

God is ready to impart wisdom, share discernment, and distribute perspective. He is knocking, desiring to sit down and share his vast understanding. It is for us to seek. To pursue. To listen.

We cannot get wisdom on our own; it must come from God. We cannot gain discernment out of our own strength; we must choose to trust God for it.

“That night God appeared to Solomon and said to him, ‘Ask for whatever you want me to give you.’ Solomon answered God, ‘You have shown great kindness to David my father and have made me king in his place. Now, Lord God, let your promise to my father David be confirmed, for you have made me king over a people who are as numerous as the dust of the earth. Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours?’”
