The Lord has given us a charge. To love and adore Him. To love others as ourselves. To be His witnesses in a fallen and broken world.

This charge extends throughout all the arenas of life. When we are suffering, we are charged to love. When we are bored, we are charged to love. And when we are successful, we are charged to love.

Everything God has given us by way of direction – his laws, testimonies, statutes, etc. – is an invitation to love. Everything He has given us by way of material – money, possessions, etc. – is also an invitation to love.

True success is found in carrying God’s charge with us wherever we go. Walking in His ways through thick and thin. Keeping His directives even when they are inconvenient.

When we do this, we take on the ability to transform any circumstance into an arena for worship. Things don’t have to be a certain way for us to be successful; we carry success with us. Circumstances don’t have to align for us to be at peace; we inhabit a peace that passes understanding.

No matter how much or how little we have, it is all only for naught if we choose to use it for our own appetites rather than for the charge God has placed on us. When we are faithful to that charge, everything we do, everywhere we turn, we find a life of meaning and true success.

“And keep the charge of the Lord your God, walking in his ways and keeping his statutes, his commandments, his rules, and his testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn.”
