Life demands a list of questions be answered. Whom will you serve? What will you do?

The way to really know someone is by watching their actions. It is in our deeds that we reveal what we have learned, whether we have the wisdom, humility and understanding to lead what James calls a “good life”.

With our choices, we reveal how we are to answer the great questions of life. Our decisions are our way of “picking a side”. Wisdom or folly?

When we display deeds that are the result of humility and wisdom, we are showing off “the good life”. We reveal to others the understanding behind our choices.

The Bible tells us there is a narrow way to the good life, and few find it. When we make good choices, we bear witness to the way, the path to the good life.

Most of what we encounter in our daily existence is beyond our ability to control. Circumstances, the actions and opinions of others. Sometimes it seems so chaotic and off base it can be discouraging.

But here is this verse that tells us there is a good life available to us regardless of any of those things outside our control. It is there for us to choose. No one can keep us from it. It is there for us if we gain the understanding to know it, and the wisdom to choose it.

“Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.”
– James 3:13
